1. Ryobi 18v vs Black & Decker 20v Drill
Comparing these two is a bit tricky. Both of them are used for drilling on woods, metal and plastic. However, the main difference lies in the batteries. Let’s look at the B&D first.
- BLACK+DECKER LDX120C 20 Volt Cordless Drill
Now let’s Look at the Ryobi. What we liked: The Ryobi weighs less and is also more compact. Along with rubber grips, which makes it better for heavy duty use. The Ryobi also has 12 speeds over the 11 speeds of Black & Decker. What we didn’t like: The problem with Ryobi here is that when you buy, this will just be the tool. Batteries are not going to be included. So that will cost you extra, along with the charger. If you don’t want to spend money on the battery and charger for the Ryobi, it can only work if you have batteries from another Ryobi machine already at hand.
2. Ryobi vs Black & Decker Trimmer
These two look good when making a comparison. However the Black & Decker 20 volt trimmer takes the edge here. What we liked: This is easier to use, the length is easily adjustable and also can be converted into a wheeled edger. The Black & Decker also has more power and option of increasing the torque. This one weighs 6.3 lbs whereas the Ryobi is lighter. The weight on the Black & Decker provides it with more stability than its counterparts. The Black & Decker also has an easy feed option which allows you to advance your line. All this requires is a button which is located at the top. What we didn’t like: The problem with the added weight is that it may not be easier to use for beginners.
Now let’s take a look at the Ryobi trimmer. What we liked: This is lighter than the Black & Decker model. What we didn’t like: The Ryobi trimmer also has the option of becoming a wedge but the ease of use is better with the Black & Decker. The proper weight was not provided on their website. The Ryobi trimmer will set you back $60.45 whereas the Black & Decker trimmer will cost you $79.99. Again, the issue here is that the Black & Decker model comes with the battery and charger included. The line advancing ease button is not present with this model.
3. Ryobi vs Black & Decker Jigsaw
Comparing Ryobi and Black & Decker Jigsaws was tricky. Both of them are solid products and perform well. But the edge here goes to the Black & Decker Jigsaw. Sawing is a technical and tricky task which requires balance.
Let’s look at Black & Decker first. What we liked: You get balance with the Black & Decker jigsaw. It weighs in at 5.2 lbs, which gives it more balance than the 4.4 pounds of the Ryobi one. The Black & Decker jigsaw also comes with an easy to remove latch for the saw blades. What we didn’t like: The grips on this model are not made of rubber.
Now let’s go to the Ryobi. What we liked: The Ryobi comes with an LED light with which you can see better while working during night times and in low light areas. Plus this has rubber grips as well. What we didn’t like: Although battery powered, the Ryobi jigsaw does not come with the battery included. This makes it harder to use right off the bat when compared to the wire powered Black & Decker. Plus the price factor just does not make this a feasible product for everyday use.
4. Ryobi vs Black & Decker Lawn mower
When comparing Ryobi vs Black & Decker lawn mower machines, this is a very tough choice to make. Let’s take a look at the Black & Decker. What we liked: This has 2, 2.5 Ah batteries. Sometimes this allows this lawn mower more battery time than the Ryobi lawnmower. What we didn’t like: In the Black & Decker model, the speed variations are not automatic. This may give you the advantage of having more power, it take out the ease of use.
Now let’s see what the Ryobi has to offer. What we liked: The Ryobi has one 5 Ah battery. This is because the Ryobi delivers more power in one go, and varies its speeds automatically which use the battery more. The Ryobi also features a 7 setting height adjustment compared to the 6 settings of Black & Decker. What we didn’t like: The Ryobi is heavier at 67.6 lbs compared to the Black & Decker, which comes in at 55 lbs.
5. Ryobi vs Black and Decker hedge trimmer
When it comes to hedge trimmers, the Black & Decker model seems like the better choice. Both the models offer a 22” multiple blades and up to 3000 hectares of hedges can be cut in one charge. Let’s take a look at them, Black & Decker going first. What we liked: This model features a 20V battery and gives you a little extra power here and there when going around the edges a little more. What we didn’t like: Nothing.
Now let’s see the Ryobi:What we liked: This is lighter than the Black & Decker model. What we didn’t like: The Ryobi does not come with the batteries included. This puts $30 burden on the pocket and make it seem odd as to why the model doesn’t come with a battery whereas other similar models do. Furthermore, the battery on the Ryobi hedge trimmer is powered at 18v as compared to the 20v of the Black & Decker.
Despite both Black & Decker and Ryobi being very popular household names in home improvement tools, it is a shame that Ryobi does not feature batteries included in their products. One seriously thinks this as a main factor when comparing Ryobi vs Black & Decker. Also the issue of price is of particular concern here. Some items on Ryobi’s product list are more expensive than Black & Decker despite not having batteries included. Black & Decker also has more and in some cases better features on their products. This makes their items a better option to consider in almost all categories.
